DENTAL EXAMINATION
New patients, diagnosis, treatment plan, and cleaning
Dr. Diana recommends that everyone undergo a regular dental examination, even with good oral hygiene. This is especially crucial for screening for oral cancer, which is more common in the elderly. Early detection can make a significant difference in treatment.

PERIODONTAL CARE AND GUM DISEASE
Dr. Diana is a general dentist who diagnoses and treats gum diseases and periodontal diseases, which are the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Some cases may require surgical treatment, and Dr. Diana will explain the different types of gum grafts and gum surgeries. For more advanced cases, Dr. Diana will not hesitate to refer you to a periodontist.

SNORING AND SLEEP APNEA
Dr. Diana will assess whether you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a sleep disorder that has significant health effects and increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cognitive disorders, such as memory problems. It can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome, drowsiness, and a higher risk of road accidents. Dr. Diana will guide you towards a sleep evaluation. She will discuss with you various treatment options based on your oral health condition.

TEETH GRINDING AND ORAL SPLINT
Dr. Diana will detect if you have teeth grinding or clenching (bruxism), which is the leading cause of neuromuscular pain in the TMJ (temporomandibular joints) and jaws, as well as damage to teeth, restorations, crowns, and bridges.
She may refer you for a sleep medicine evaluation for severe cases with intense pain, teeth snapping, or nocturnal breathing disturbances.

CROWNS, PORCELAIN VENEERS, AND BRIDGES
Dr. Diana will explain in detail, with photos, whether you are a candidate for these types of treatments. She will provide you with several options. A dental crown is a "cap" that covers a damaged tooth to protect it and restore its original appearance. Dr. Diana uses ceramic or zirconia to restore or protect damaged teeth. The process includes an examination, a temporary crown to test functionality, and then the placement of a permanent crown. Complications like temporary sensitivity or pain may occur. Porcelain veneers are thin shells that restore aesthetically teeth that are overly discolored or damaged in two appointments. After preparation and an impression, they are bonded with adhesive resin. They are durable and stain-resistant but are not recommended for patients who grind or clench their teeth or have poor habits. A fixed bridge is a permanent prosthesis that replaces one or more missing teeth, anchored to the adjacent teeth. On the other hand, a butterfly bridge is supported by metal wings attached to the adjacent teeth.

SURGERIES AND TOOTH EXTRACTIONS
Dr. Diana is a general dentist with experience in performing various types of surgeries since 1994, including tooth extractions, wisdom teeth extractions, frenectomy, osteoplasty, cyst removal, and more. She will also assess the condition of your wisdom teeth to evaluate whether there is enough space for them to emerge properly before their development causes damage, as the risk of complications and the difficulty of extraction increase for individuals over the age of 30.

ORAL CANCER AND BIOPSY
Dr. Diana will pay special attention to screening for oral cancer, which can manifest as a persistent mouth sore, a growth, or red or white patches on the gums, lips, and tongue. Other concerning signs include difficulty chewing or swallowing, a swelling in the cheek, changes in the voice, the feeling of something stuck in the throat, unusual bleeding, numbness in the oral area, and a lump in the neck that lasts for several weeks. Dr. Diana may perform a biopsy and send it for microscopic examination at the University of Montreal or refer you to a specialist depending on the condition.

CAVITIES AND AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL RESTORATIONS
Dr. Diana does not use amalgam fillings; she restores decayed or fractured teeth with composite or ceramic materials, depending on the condition of the tooth. She focuses on preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible, whether it involves inlays, composite or ceramic veneers, or composite restorations.

CROWNS ON IMPLANTS
After thorough planning between the maxillofacial surgeon and Dr. Diana, along with comprehensive clinical and radiological exams, the maxillofacial surgeon will proceed with the implant placement. Dr. Diana will then handle the prosthetic phase, which involves placing the crown or bridge screwed onto the implant.

COMPLETE AND PARTIAL DENTURES
A complete denture, or full denture, replaces all the teeth in one jaw. It covers the residual gum ridge and, in the upper jaw, the roof of the mouth. Made of artificial teeth on an acrylic base, it rests on the gums. Its retention is ensured by a suction effect, with the oral mucosa acting as a seal. While considered a last resort, this type of denture offers a practical solution when no other dental replacement options are available. A partial removable denture is designed to replace one or more missing teeth and is made of a metal base covered with acrylic. Its stability is ensured by clasps that attach to the adjacent natural teeth.

TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDERS (TMJ)
Dr. Diana recommends consulting her if you experience pain in front of the ear, sensitivity and stiffness in the jaw muscles, cracking sounds when chewing, as well as headaches and bruxism (excessive teeth grinding or clenching at night).

BAD BREATH AND DRY MOUTH
If you suffer from either of these conditions, you can consult Dr. Diana, and she will find solutions for you. The main causes of bad breath include gum inflammation, poor oral hygiene, cavities, food particle retention, infections, mouth breathing, smoking, reduced saliva production, and bacteria buildup on the tongue. Symptoms of dry mouth syndrome include constant thirst, difficulty swallowing dry foods, and thick, foamy, or dry saliva.
